Man Paddy! Keep the fingers crossed - there could be some serious wood in that stash. Looking forward to a report! |

just got back, well he wasnt telling lies, there really was 8 tonnes of wood, the only problem was it was almost all old furniture which had been taken apart, and it was a total mess so really hard to move around and check it out, but i managed to pick up some 100+ year old 1/4sawn mahogany tabletops, and other mahogany bits, a plank that will yield some 1pc electric bodys, acouple of logs of boxwood, but the best was a flitch cut yew tree, and it was the biggest yew tree i have seen, i have always wanted to get some yew backs and sides for a while, but all the timber i have seen has been full of knots and full of checks, i looked like a coal miner after i had been rummaging through stacks of old furniture for a few hours, very interesting indeed!! paddy |

Yew flitches big enough for tonewood? Heard of it in lutes but can't remember seeing a guitar made of it... Sounds like a great score and a fun time. |

Nice score, Paddy! I did the same a few years ago. Problem is, I didn`t know tonewood from construction grade 2x4`s back then. |
